Santander Performing Arts Center Wedding of Katie & Eric! 09.12.15
This Santander Performing Arts Center wedding was so up my alley — lots of nerdy details, super fun games, and a planetarium reception! These two entered my annual Offbeat Bride free wedding photography contest and how could I say no when they combined a love of theater AND a love of space/planets into one crazy amazing wedding?? One of the first things Katie told me was: “On Friday nights, it’s not uncommon to have us burst into the same song from a favorite musical while we’re sitting around a table playing D&D. Basically, he’s perfect for me.” How could you not love a couple like that?
They booked the Santander Performing Arts Center for their ceremony and got married right on stage. It was magical. Red velvet everywhere, gold detail, murals on the ceiling… pretty fantastic. Katie got ready with family and a couple close friends right in the dressing rooms. After that we all piled into cars and headed to the nearby Neag Planetarium for one of the coolest receptions I’ve ever seen. Nerdy, awesome touches EVERYWHERE — they didn’t leave anything out! They had a giant dice for guests to roll to decide if they’d kiss or not. They had a huge feast of a dinner with multiple courses (as Katie put it: “like Game of Thrones, but without people dying). There was a huge MOON behind the bar. They had friends sing for them, and a family member performed acts of magic. It was so, so cool to be there with them for the weekend and celebrate in such a well-planned wedding day!
