This is Jess & Ben! When Jess first contacted me, she mentioned that part of the reason they liked me is because they’re also geeks who have cats… WIN! She also described their very DIY plan for the wedding, and how most of the decor/theme was built off their invitations, which were inspired by the fate that brought them together. The only reason Jess decided to go out with Ben was because he liked a band that she liked (The Decemberists), so she chose an invitation that would be similar to some of their album artwork. The band also has a song called “The Mariner’s Revenge”, which ended up tying in nicely with the Mariner’s Church. Score! They had their ceremony at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Portland, Maine (one of my favorites, both inside and out!), and their reception was just a few blocks away at the Mariner’s Church. They had the slightest Cinco de Mayo theme (read: some of the guests had sombreros and fake mustaches), and basically just had a blast all day. ‘Twas awesome!
