Falmouth, Maine Family Session

I had so much fun at this Falmouth, Maine family session! Liza hired me to photograph both her family and her sister, Nancy’s, family. It was such a fun opportunity for everyone — especially the kids, but the adults, too! — to spend some time together at Liza and Aaron’s home in Falmouth, Maine.

Relaxed family sessions like this are my favorite. We still get some of the more standard photos, but there’s a definite focus on more candid moments. It allows the kids in particular to feel relaxed and like they can have fun and be themselves! I also feel that doing sessions like these at the clients’ homes can add a whole other level of comfort. There are plenty of practical reasons why this benefits everyone — there are toys on hand, access to changes of clothing if necessary, snacks if the kids get hungry, no need to pile everyone in the car or worry about parking, etc — but there’s also the more intangible benefit of feeling the most like yourself when you’re in your space! The more relaxed and happy everyone feels, the more it will show in the photos, so that is always a huge plus!

Not to mention the fact that if you do a family session at your home, you will always have photos in that happy place in case you ever move to a new house (or a new state!). Looking back at photos of you playing with your kids, hugging your sister, or snuggling with your partner in the yard you spent so much of your time is something that just can’t be duplicated at a park or beach!
