Coastal Maine Backyard Wedding

This coastal Maine backyard wedding was such a beautiful, slightly whimsical, relaxed celebration! Alex found me via A Practical Wedding, so I had a good feeling about them already. She was planning the wedding a bit long distance from where she was living in New Orleans, but she had family ties to Maine, so it was going to be a special location for them! She told me about how her and Sean met in college and were best friends for a few years before they started dating. After meeting them for their Bailey Island engagement session, this was so obvious to me — these two have clearly felt so close to each other for so long and share a super special bond. Alex told me about how they wanted the day to be “fun-focused and casual” with lots of DIY, and they totally succeeded! They were married at a family member’s home and you can’t go wrong with coastal Maine no matter where you are! They had a taco buffet for food, a sweet ceremony officiated by Alex’s father, a beautiful and simple First Look inside the home, a STUNNING cake that was handmade and decorated by several of their friends, and they capped off the afternoon with guests (and the two of them!) taking turns trying to smash open a lobster-shaped piñata. Dream wedding!!!
