Coolidge Corner Theater Wedding | Alex & Roger 06.30.12
This is Alex & Roger and their incredible Coolidge Corner Theater wedding! They will always have a special place in my heart for just being so damn awesome, and treating Kim & I like family on their wedding day! Alex found me on Offbeat Bride, and when she first contacted me (and we shared a mutual love for exclamation points), they had a different plan for their day. They originally envisioned a picnic wedding in the park, which I was ALL ABOUT, but unfortunately logistics got in the way. So they fell back on Plan B… movie theater wedding!!! I don’t think I’ve ever been so psyched about a chance of plans. They chose Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline, Massachusetts, which was just SO COOL. It was originally built as a church in 1906, and then redesigned as an Art Deco theater in 1933 and has been open ever since! It was the community’s first movie theater, and has been run by a non-profit organization since 1988, making it New England’s most successful independent, not-for-profit cinema. The style of it is just so awesome, and so fitting for Alex & Roger. They were married right up on a little stage, in front of the big screen, and even made their own little mini-movie to air before the ceremony. They paid homage to their roots (they met on Facebook!) by updating their Facebook status immediately following them being pronounced husband and wife. They had popcorn, candy, and cupcakes for everyone, and the whole place was just so full of love. After the ceremony and a brief mingling period, their core group of friends & family hopped on the T and headed to the Beacon Tavern for a lunch reception! What a freaking awesome day.
